karl marx
on page 160, on the third paragraph down the page, karl marx speaks of how he feels that modern industry has established the world market, how how the market had given an immense development to commerce, navigation, and communication by land. i agree with the fact that market and things like that have paved the way for all of our other means of communication, but one thing i do disagree with is the fact that he gives MODERN indusrty all of the credit for this. it was well before modernization, and industry even came about that the only way people could speak to other people, or meet new people was by traveling to sell whatever they had to sell to make the money to feed their family.
karl marx
i never raelly ralized how much i agree with karl marx. we have been learning about him a lot in sociology class, and it never really appealed to me how accurate his views are until after i started to read this book
karl marx
in the karl marx book that we are reading now, i find it very interesting how marx points out that people do not really feel a need for wood, until the wood is made into something that we may benefit from. his example is making wood into a table... this is a great example because who would want a bunch of logs lying around in their house? nobody would, but i am 100% positive that people have wooden tables all over their house. i completely agree with marx on this one

making a promise
i think that the way that nietzsche describes the ability to make and keep a promise is very interesting. i have never looked at anything this way before, first you have to think of the promise that you want to make, and then you have to make your self beleive that you are going to keep it, and then finally you have to carry out the action of actually keeping the promise. this si by far the most interesting thing i have read in this book thus far.

I FOUND A WAY!!
I found a way to help me better understand the reading! I read one paragraph, and then i stop and think about it, and write down little side notes, and then i continue on with my reading.
New reading
I enjoy reading this new book, but at times i find some of the things he says a bit redundant, and he seems to be talking in circles rather than getting straight to the point. i think that this would be a much better book, and a whole lot easier to read if he were to write straight to the point.

why?
I do not understand why Socrates would kill himself, knowing that what action is unacceptable with God.

The White Castle Vs. The Trial and Death of Socrates
These two books were two totally different reads. I understood the Trial and Death of Socrates way better than i understood The White Castle. I really do not see any similarities in the two books, the Trial and Death of Scorates seems more "real" to me whereas the White Castle was nothing but a fiction book, that i did not enjoy reading at all.

White Castle...
The White Castle was a very confusing book to read. I found my self getting frustrated at times, and having to put the book down and take a break from reading it. I was however able to finish the book, but I still do not fully understand what was going on... The only thing in my life that relates to this book, is how me and my father act just alike because we spend so much time together.
i dont know...
i dont know what i am doing... i forgot my password to log on to my blog account, and i just spent ten minutes trying to figure it out...
